Low Carb Diets

Low Carb Diets – Can Produce Fast Results

Low carb diets have been around for years. However they are enjoying a revival and gaining more acceptance, by the mainstream medical community although approval is not total. A low carbs diet may be for you, if you can take the induction phase, a minimum of 2 weeks eating lots of meat, fish, eggs, butter, and cram but very little else except lower carbohydate green leafy vegetables.

After the induction period of a low carb diet you may add 5 carb gms to your daily lower carbohydrate count each week, until you are within the 5 to 10 lbs of your goal weight or weight loss stops. After this pre- maintenance phase you add 10 gms of carbs to your daily carb intake each week, until you are at goal weight then you are in lifetime maintenance, which theoretically you can stay at forever. If in this stage you find you gain a pound or two drop back 5 or 10 carb gms. for a couple of days and you should be fine.

You can search the web and find hundreds of recipes you can use on your lower carbohydrate diet. You can find cheesecake, chili, spaghetti, and cookie recipes on many low carb websites. There are also magazines and cookbooks devoted to low carb cooking.

There are even recipes for reduced carb ice cream. You can find a lot of low carb products in you local supermarket, like bread and pasta but the web has a wider selection of reduced carb food items. After the first few weeks, you will be amazed at you much you enjoy your lower carbohydrate diet.
