Low Carb Pasta – Italian Style

Did you know that low carb pasta is available? Some health food stores and supermarkets carry low carbs pastas that can be used in all the traditional pasta dishes, just make sure that your sauces are low in carbohydrates or you will blow your diet. Actually you can buy lower carb pasta sauces on the net also. There are also dozens of low carbs pasta recipes available on the net for free.

Some lower carb pasta recipes can be made in the crock pot. Farmhouse pasta and cheese, Mandarin style low carb spaghetti, low carbohydrate elbows casserole, Italian sausage spaghetti, Penne Rigati, Pasta and cheese pie, Linguine stew, to name a few. Other low carb recipes are prepared in the traditional way.

This recipe for lower carbs pasta salad is delicious:

  • 8oz low carb elbows or penne pasta
  • 1/4 cup garlic flavored oil
  • 1 cup broccoli and cauliflower
  • fresh basil
  • 2 tbsp balsamic vinegar
  • pepper and salt to taste
  • 1 tsp Dijon mustard

Cook pasta according to package directions. Combine and whisk together vinegar, mustard, oil, basil, salt and pepper. Pour over cooked pasta and veggies. Refrigerate before serving.

You can also adapt your own favorite pasta recipes to fit your low carb lifestyle. Pasta is so adaptable it can fit into any dietetic, cultural or regional lifestyle. It is close to a universal food.
