Low Carb Meals – Plan Ahead

You need to plan ahead for your low carb meals, even more then before you decided to go on a low carb diet. Before if you hadn’t defrosted anything or forgot to go to the store you could just grab a burger and fries at the local fast food joint.

Now you don’t have that luxury. You must plan ahead for your low carb meal, so that you won’t be tempted to go off low carbs. Shop for at least a week’s supply of low carbohydrate foods at a time. Repeated stops at the store may be too tempting especially in the beginning.

Your choices for meals that are low in carbohydrates are endless, and can be delicious. For breakfast how about a 3 egg omelet with tomatoes and mozzarella cheese, with a cup of decaf coffee.

A lower carb lunch might be a Caesar salad with grilled chicken. For dinner try Cajun pork chops, sauted kale with red pepper and spicy corn bread. All these meals are low carb and delicious. Some very tasty lower carbs snacks are: spiced pumpkin seeds, or celery stuffed with herb cream cheese.

There are cookbooks, magazines and web sites where you can get help with planning reduced carbs meals. Also, Dr. Atkins in his book “Dr. Atkins New Diet Revolution” gives a sample menu for each of the four phases of his diet. These menus are great for compiling shopping lists and putting together meal plans that will fit your low carb diet. With a little forethought putting together lower carbohydrate meals is a snap.
