Low Carb Fast Food

Low Carb Fast Food –Is This Real

Fast food burgers on a diet? Yes, if it is a low carb diet. Low carb fast food becomes more and more available. Hardee’s and Carl’s Jr. burger chains announced their low carb offerings in December 2003, and Burger King made their low carb move in February 2004. Hardee’s “thick burger” is 1/3 lb of meat with cheese, tomato, pickle, everything but the bun and has only 5 carb grams. Carl’s Jr. has a ½ lb lower carbohydrate burger with all the fixings, but again without the bun. These two sandwiches are wrapped in large iceberg lettuce leaves. These low carbs fast foods are selling well.

Hardee’s also offers a bunless low carbohydrate chicken club with 11 grams of carbs. They also have two low carb breakfast bowls. One has two folded eggs with swiss cheese. The other is a loaded omelet with sausage, crumbled bacon, diced ham and cheddar cheese and the whole thing is then topped with more bacon and cheddar cheese. This item has 6 total carb grams. Burger King serves their low carb Whopper on a plate with a knife and fork instead of a wrap. T.G.I. Friday’s also has a low carb bunless burger.

Lower carbohydrates entrée salads are offered by Wendy’s and McDonalds but these two chains have no plan to put lower carb burgers on their menus. Burger King is also offering low carb Whopper meals with salad instead of fries and bottled water in place of colas. So those on reduced carb diets can eat fast foods.
