Low Carb Diet Beer – Is Available
Low carb diet beer is another product riding the rising tide of the low carbs diet craze. All the major breweries have joined the fight to capture the loyalty of beer drinking low carb dieters. Here are a few popular beers with their lite and/or low carb versions:
Anheiser Busch, the parent company of Budweiser and Michelob, isn’t really upset by customers shifting from Bud Light to Michelob Ultra (low carb) since the Ultra costs about 12% more. It is believed by industry insiders that low carbs diet beers will own 6-8% of the beer market in 5 years. In reviews of different lower carb beers, Michelob Ultra won in one taste test and in another Amstel Light and Rock Green Light came to a draw. Amstel light has a richer flavor and only 5 carb grams while Rock Green Light has a mild flavor and also only 5 carb grams. A nice cold beer on a hot summer night, or while watching the big game can be refreshing and won’t throw you diet off if it is a low carb beer and you remember to include it in your daily carb count. Brewers are beginning to aim some of their advertising at low carbohydrate dieters. Miller for instance is touting Miller Lite as “the first low carb beer.” It has only 3.2 grams of carbs. Remember that you can’t have beer in the first phase of your low carb diet or if you hit a plateau before you are at goal weight.
