Atkins Diet U.K. – Proven Steps

The Atkins diet U.K. is just as popular a diet as it is in the States. At least 3 million people in the U.K. have tried the Atkins diet. Although criticized by scientists who believe the diet is unsafe, there’s been no medical evidence to back up the claim. No one on either side of the issue has produced a study on long term effects of the Atkins diet. One British poll revealed that 6% of men and 10% of women in the U.K. have tried the Atkins diet.

Another poll showed that only 1 out of 100 Atkins dieters believed the warnings of the scientists and half thought research into the long term effects of Atkins needs to be done.

One report on the U.K. Atkins Diet says that the weight loss that occurs is more the result of decreased appetite than the ketosis reported by Dr. Atkins. However Atkins does cover that issue in his book “Dr. Atkins New Diet Revolution”, he says that as the carbs are converted to sugar they release glucose which triggers false hunger pangs and carb cravings. Hence the failure of high carb diets.

There are some misconceptions noted in these articles. One implied that Atkins fails to let people with kidney disease know that this diet isn’t for them. The book mentions this at least 5 times. Another implication is that pregnant or nursing women are also not warned off. He says at least 3 times, that they shouldn’t use the weight loss phases of the Atkins diet.

Its also been implied that dieters aren’t advised to see their physicians before starting the Atkins diet. In chapter 10 of the book, 2nd paragraph, Atkins tells you to see a doctor and have blood work and a physical before starting the Akins diet.
