Atkins Diet Recipies

Atkins Diet Recipies – Simple But Powerful

The Atkins low carb diet has been around for about three decades, but has enjoyed another surge in popularity in recent years. The basic plan of the Atkins diet is based on four phases. During the first, or induction phase of the diet, daily carb intakes are severely restricted resulting in rapid weight loss. In the ongoing weight loss, or second phase of the Atkins diet, daily carb intakes can be gradually increased each week until weight loss slows.

The third phase of the diet is called pre-maintenance and begins when the dieter is within 5-10 pounds of goal weight. The fourth Atkins phase is known as lifetime maintenance. No matter what phase of the Atkins diet a dieter is in, there are free Atkins diet recipies available online which fit within the guidelines of the particular phase of the diet.

For instance, in phase one of the Atkins diet only 20 carb grams may be consumed daily. At the Atkins Nutritionals website there are dozens of recipie ideas for dieters in this phase. One Atkins diet recipie for this phase is Cajun Blackened Tuna which serves four and only has one net carb per serving. Some more examples of recipies for Atkins dieters in this phase include Chicken Curry, Egg Drop Soup, and Lobster Bake. All have less then 5 net carbs and will fit into other low carb diets as well.

When Atkins dieters are done with the induction phase of their diet they can start reintroducing foods such as pasta and can really get more creative with the types of recipes they add to their daily menus. The Atkins website also has a section that shows dieters how to convert some of their old favorite carb rich recipies into lower carb versions.
