Atkins Diet Plateau – Get Over The Hurdle

You’ve been on the Atkins diet for several weeks and the pounds have been dropping like leaves from an oak tree in Autumn. Then BOOM! It all stops. You’ve hit an Atkins diet plateau. Dr. Atkins suggests that you look at several things to find out the cause of your diet plateau Atkins style. Have you started a new medication recently? Are you keeping up with your exercise regimen? Are you sure you have no signs of an Atkins diet disorder? A thyroid problem can also cause you to plateau while doing Atkins. If none of the above apply, don’t despair, there are ways to get off the plateau. Dr. Atkins suggests that maybe your goal weight is unrealistic. Try dropping the last 5 or 10 carbs you added to your diet. That may jump start your weight loss diet. You can also try increasing the amount of time you exercise. If you’re not keeping a good diary while on the Atkins diet now is the time to start. It may help you see some carbs you forgot about and get you off the plateau. A good carb counter is also a necessity when doing Atkins. This can help you get off that plateau and succeed on the Atkins diet.
