Atkins Diet Plans – Keeping You In Shape

The Atkins Diet Plan is a plan where the intake of dietary carbohydrates is reduced and the intake of fats and proteins are increased. The goal is have you body burn fat for fuel rather than carbohydrates. Weight loss is a wonderful result of this dietary food plan. Calories are energy units and if we eat too many we will gain weight, if we eat too few we will loose weight but we need to balance our goals to include a nutritious diet as well as weight loss. On the Atkins diet plans the general standard is that you eat approximately 8 to 10 calories per pound of your current weight. A person of 200 pounds would then eat between 1600 and 2000 calories daily.

As a dieter, I know feeling deprived at any time on a dietary program is setting myself up for failure to use the diet effectively. The Atkins diet urges you to watch your dietary intake and to observe how certain food affects you. For example, some people are affected when they use either Splenda or Nutra-sweet as part of their dietary plan. When using Nutra-Sweet as part of their diet, some people have experienced upset stomach, diarrhea, or even seizures. The effects of Splenda on users is not currently known.

Water is the staple of most diet plans although the amount often varies from diet plan to diet plan. The Atkins plan suggests that you drink at least 68 ounces of water . Their basic ideal is that you drink half as many ounces of water as you weigh in pounds. For example a person weighing 200 pounds would need to drink 100 ounces of water to be in compliance with the Atkins plan. Any diet is only as good as the dieter attempting to utilize it.
