Atkins Diet Alcohol – Should I Drink When On The Diet
On the Atkins diet, alcohol is permitted, but not recommended until after
the dieter is finished with the induction phase of the diet. In his book
“Dr. Atkins New Diet Revolution” Dr. Atkins says that its best for people on
his diet not to drink any alcohol since the body will burn the alcohol
before burning body fat. This slows down weight loss and increases carb
cravings. That being said, alcohol is available to Atkins dieters, that
won’t wipe out their daily carb count. So with low carb spirits, wine and beer available to dieters on Atkins, they need to decide if the occasional alcoholic drink is worth the carbs expenditure and cravings. Atkins and other diet gurus don’t think so but each individual has to decide for himself.
