Low Carb Snacks – Surprisingly Easy To Make

If you are just embarking on a low carbs diet plan, you will be happy to know that snacking is allowed. You won’t have the chips, pretzels or candy, but you can enjoy low carb snacks. So you ask, what can I snack on? There are all kinds of delicious low carbs snack foods. There are reduced carb protein bars in several different flavors. Low carb cookies, candies and even tortilla chips are available for snacking on the go.

These 5 gram carb snacks would be a boon to any diet, low carb or not.

You can choose from these fruit treats:



  • 1/4 cup blueberries or pineapple
  • 1/3 cup raspberries, blackberries or grapes
  • 1/2 of a small apple
  • 1/2 medium sized peach
  • 1/2 cup strawberries

If you prefer vegetables this reduced carbohydrate snack list may be right up your alley.



  • 1/2 cup peppers
  • 2/3 cup asparagus, broccoli or string beans
  • 1 cup cauliflower or summer squash
  • 1/2 cup onions or carrots
  • 1/4 cup peas or corn
  • 1/2 cup tomato juice

Another choice is to make your own snacks. There are dozens of websites where you can find recipes for all different types of low carbohydrate snacks such as parmesan cheese puffs, taco meatballs, cheese crackers, lemon parmesan crackers and even your own protein bars in a variety of flavors. Some people on limited carb eating plans enjoy snacking on things like crumbled bacon or chunks of cheese. The choice is yours.

Be sure to read labels on all pre-packaged foods, even those labeled “low carb.” Look for hidden carbs like sucrose, or corn syrup. These can derail your weight loss efforts. Stores like Walmart carry low carbohydrate snacks under their own labels, check them out.
