Low carb food list

Low Carb Food List – You’ll Find A Vast Range Available

There are a number of ways to put together a low carb food list. In the food and recipe chapter of “Dr. Atkins New Diet Revolution” there are lists of the reduced carb foods that you should keep in your pantry, refrigerator or freezer. It lists all categories such as meat, vegetables, spices and condiments. A much more extensive list is the “Carbohydrate Gram Counter.” It has everything including white rice, white flour, milk and white potatoes, all major no-nos for people on a low carb diet. The Atkins book also has lists of low carb foods, permitted during different phases of the plan.

During the first or induction phase of a diet, the acceptable low carb foods listed are fish, shellfish, fowl, meats and eggs. You can eat liberal amounts of these foods. Other categories are cheese, salad vegetables, garnishes, fats and oils, and vegetable beverages. These are limited to certain specified amounts. Spices can be used as much as you want in your low carb diet.

In each subsequent phase, there is a list of foods that can be added to your reduced carb menus as long as you don’t exceed your maximum carb count. You can find lists of foods for low carb diets as simple as meat, fish, eggs, butter and cream, to very specific detailed lists of every possible item or food category. You can go on line and find low carbohydrate food shopping lists and hints on how to read labels so that you don’t fall prey to hidden carbs. Use any of the low carb diets you can find to shop carefully and to help you stay away from impulsive buying of carbohydrate rich foods.
